Novocontact from Sprenger has a port that is flattened for a larger contact area in the horse's mouth and enlarged contact surface on the tounge. Due to its anatomical design, the weymouth bit is stable and is adapted to take up as less space as possible in the horse's mouth, it gives a soft influence in the horse´s mouth which usually is appreciated by most horses and results in better acceptance of the bit.
The weymouth bit Novocontact is recommended for horses that tend to pull up their tongue. The weymouth bit Novocontact is available with 5 or 7 cm long shanks. The shorter shanks gives a more direct contact while the longer ones becomes sharper.
As the horse's mouth narrows downwards and the bridoon bit is placed below the weymouth bit, Sprenger recommends that the weymouth bit should be 0.5 to 1 cm shorter than the bridoon and that the shanks of the weymouth bit should be close to the horse's mouth for best stability and impact.
