The HS weymouth curb bit lies firmly in the horse´s mouth with an even pressure over the entire tongue thanks to the almost straight shape with only a small curved gate. The bit is available with 5 or 7 sm long shanks. The shorter shank gives a little more direct contact and the longer ones becomes a bit sharper. 

As the horse's mouth narrows downwards and the bridoon bit is placed below the weymouth bit, Sprenger recommends that the weymouth bit should be 0.5 to 1 cm shorter than the bridoon and that the shanks of the weymouth bit should be close to the horse's mouth for best stability and impact.
