Weymouth bit in Satinox from Herm. Sprenger has a well-shaped, forward-tilted mouthpiece that fits well in many horses' mouths, the 12 mm thick bar takes up as little space as possible, the shank length is 5 cm.
Satinox is made of stainless steel with a satin-finish, which in this case means that the material is specially treated to achieve a surface that fits in the horse's mouth. The shape of the weymouth is very similar to the classic HO weymouth, which is one of Sprenger's most popular weymouth.
This is a milder weymouth, only 12mm thick with short shanks and is therefore well suited to sensitive horses. The small size also means that the Satinox bar can be used for ponies.
Since Satinox is made of stainless steel, but with the middle part in a satin-finish, this will be a weymouth in a lower price range.
Since the horse's mouth tapers downwards and the weymouth is placed below the bridoon bit, Sprenger recommends that the weymouth should be 0.5 to 1 cm shorter than the bridoon and that the shanks of the weymouth should be close to the horse's mouth to get the best stability and impact.
