Eggbutt Elliptical Lock Up from Bombers.

Bombers Eggbutt Elliptical Lock Up is a double-jointed bit with fixed cheekpieces to avoid pinching of the corners of the horse’s mouth and the bit from being pulled through the mouth. 

Eggbutt Elliptical Lock Up lies stable in the horse’s mouth with a ‘locked’ lozenge function that removes the ‘nut cracker’ action of conventional snaffle bits. The Eggbutt Elliptical Lock Up bit is made of sweet iron and brass, the warmth and sweetness of which encourages mouthing and salivation.

Bombers’ philosophy is that bits often put pressure on the tongue resulting in the horse resisting the bit which in turn, results in poorer communication between horse and rider. In order to improve communications, increase control and stop the horse to resist the bit, the pressure on its tongue must be removed. By distributing the pressure across a larger area of the mouth, the pressure is reduced with the horse resisting less. This is the concept behind the Bombers bits of today.
